I played w / an old set of sheets Hogan Edge and want to upgrade. I am a horrible golfer, but I was told that the blades of age may be a party. I really want to forgive the club and was told that was the name of ping. Ive found a used set of Callaway X-18 Pro Series $ 350. What should I do? Go, go for the ping, or maintain the hogans, or something else?

You cant go wrong with a nice set of pings. If you buy irons new more then likely you have the option of getting fitted for the irons and you should do it. This is true for almost all higher end brands of irons. So go to your golf store and swing every brand that you can afford -good Luck-

The Hogan Edge irons had a comparatively small sweet spot but were some of the finest constructed clubs at the time. Low handicap golfers whose swings were grooved had great success with them. I had the greatest respect for the clubs. The feel fitted my swing speed, the shaft was regular and for the little amounf of golf played at that time, carried a respectable handicap. Then went to FL by train and with three children to watch along with luggage, decided to preship the clubs home. Someone liked the idea of preshipment for they never arrived,

Asking for others in your decision making is good but ultimately its got to work for you. I would agree with -TIMEX-, go to your local pro shop and try as many iron before you purchase them. Choose a set you feel most comfortable with and get them fitted to your physical dimension, I believe this is really important. Along the process you might get a few tip or so.
Good Luck

Go to golfgalaxy and try different brand. They will give you 30% more trade in value for your old clubs. They also offer free fitting for every new clubs set. Good Luck!

forget the x-18s if you want forgiveness and look for the callaway big bertha 06 or 08 or the cleveland cg gold. If you REALLY want forgivenes get a hybrid iron set, like the Callaway Fusion of the Cleveland Hibore. Not sure about the Pings at all.
